Chad Mitchell
Chad Mitchell brings strong clinical, policy and health research skills along with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical system, administration, purchasing and reimbursement to the In Initiative team.
Chad’s background is as a pharmacist having both clinical and managerial experience in community, ambulatory and hospital pharmacy practices. This includes being the Clinical Practice Manager for Alberta Health Services – Edmonton area. Additionally, Chad has experience as a Medical Scientific Specialist in the area of Immune Mediated Inflammatory Disorders for a major pharmaceutical company.
Chad received his Master’s degree with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta with his research interest is in the area of Health Outcomes. He bring experience in health and health policy research from working with group like the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes (ACHORD) and the Institute of Health Economics.
In addition to working in clinical and research roles, Chad brings his experiences in working for Alberta Health and Wellness within the Pharmaceutical Funding and Guidance branch as a Policy Consultant. With Alberta Health and Wellness, he served as a liaison between the Ministry, the Minister’s Expert Committee on Drug Evaluation and Therapeutics, patient advocacy groups and the pharmaceutical industry. He also worked on Product Listing Agreements and research initiatives, such as the Alberta Biologics project, Alberta Depression Initiative and Alberta Improvements for MSK Disorders (AIMS) project.
Most recently, Chad was the Provincial Manager of Procurement and Contracts with Alberta Health Services. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta.
